Quality Assurance Manager

Description:
We are working with a growing food manufacturer in Phoenix, AZ seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to join their team. This person ensures that all food products meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards are met within the facility. This role involves overseeing the QA team, developing and implementing quality assurance policies and procedures, and working closely with production and other departments to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities: Quality Management Systems: Develop, implement, and maintain the company's quality assurance policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP, etc.). Oversee the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Team Leadership: Supervise and train QA staff, providing guidance and support. Conduct performance reviews and set objectives for the QA team. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the team. Audits and Inspections: Prepare for and lead internal and external audits. Manage responses to audit findings and implement corrective actions. Ensure facilities are audit-ready at all times. Product Testing and Analysis: Oversee routine quality testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods. Analyze test results and ensure any deviations are addressed promptly. Maintain detailed and accurate records of all quality tests and inspections. Supplier Quality Management: Evaluate and approve suppliers and raw materials. Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality standards. Manage supplier performance and work on quality improvement initiatives.Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in the quality assurance process. Implement process improvements to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in quality assurance.Customer and Consumer Interaction: Address and resolve quality-related customer complaints and concerns. Ensure that customer requirements and expectations are met or exceeded. Collaborate with customer service and sales teams to ensure customer satisfaction.Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of all quality assurance activities. Prepare regular quality reports for senior management. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of quality metrics.Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance within the food industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.Certifications: Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), HACCP certification, or other relevant certifications preferred.Skills: Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and standards. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Proficient in quality management systems and tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
