Software Engineer

Description:
Space Ground System Solutions (SGSS), a Parsons company, has an immediate full-time opening for a software engineer at our office in Alexandria, VA. The position will be part of a small team, which provides software development and testing for embedded software to our customer at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). A successful applicant will have a track record of delivering software in individual or small-team environments. Candidates with experience delivering capability into established and supported codebases or working with distributed open-source development teams will be favored. RESPONSIBILITIES C++ software development on a Linux platform Enhancement and upgrades of existing software, as well as development of new software Participate in the entire software development life cycle including technical requirements, architecture/design, development, testing, and deployment Research, test, build, and coordinate the integration of new products per production and client requirements Troubleshoot technical issues arising within the production environment and track/update progress Ability to work in a cooperative team environment Ability to adapt rapidly to changing requirements and schedules REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain an active SECRET clearance Must be a US citizen 1-5 years' experience Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (i.e., Computer Science, Software Engineer, Information Technology) and a minimum of one (1) year experience in a professional relative field Experience with C++ design and development Experience with software development on a Linux platform PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience creating, integrating, and documenting APIs Proficient in C++ design and development Experience with GUI development using Qt Experience with integration of open source and proprietary software libraries Experience designing, developing, and debugging performance-critical, multi-threaded software Experience designing, developing, debugging, and implementing complex, embedded software systems using C++ Understanding of networking technology, TCP/IP and common internet application protocols SGSS is passionate about making our nation the undisputed leader in Space because we understand that ensuring our security for future generations depends on it.
