Brainard Funeral Home and Cremation Center serves the city of Wausau and surrounding communities. We are adding a Lead Funeral Director to our team! The Lead Funeral Director role is an integral part of our team and the Wausau community, we want to honor and celebrate you, and the meaningful work you do. What you’ll do: Assist the General Manager with training, coaching, and shadowing arrangers during family arrangement conferences. Assist the General Manager to ensure funeral home staff adherence to best practices and all company compliance standards. Perform a variety of tasks related to preparation of the deceased: removal and transfer, embalming, cosmetology, hairstyling, dressing, and casketing all within a respectful manner. Build a strong relationship with the community through active involvement in area organizations and participation in charitable events. Promote and maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Ensure adherence to all professional, state, and federal licensing authority, regulations, and rules applicable to funeral service. Experience you need to bring: 3+ years of experience as a Licensed Funeral Director. Accountability for serving families in a professional, compassionate, patient, and timely manner, you have a strong dedication in serving others. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience with MS Office and social media (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)- yes, you’ll get social! Strong organizational skills Educational Requirements: Degree from Accredited Mortuary Science Program plus additional college credits as required in the applicable state. Successful completion of the National Board Examination Successful completion of the applicable State Board Examination Valid Funeral Director and/or Embalmer State Licensure Valid Driver’s License Wausau is a community that “offers a unique combination of city living with the country just minutes away from any doorstep” (wausauwi.gov).
