Overview Job Description: New Job Title: Second Shift- Maintenance Mechanic I Positions Reporting to this job: Department: Distribution Centers Essential Function Performs maintenance and repair on all aspect of the facility including but not limited to conveyors, forklifts, industrial batteries, building electrical up to 480VAC, plumbing, basic carpentry, and general building maintenance. Assists with flow of production by ensuring all forklift batteries are charged, watered, and changed when required. Primary Duties: Provide clear, concise statements using action verbs to describe what is done, with or for whom the action is taken and the purpose or outcome to be achieved. Responsibilities should be listed in order of percentage of time spent performing the actual duty. Performs preventative maintenance and repair on all facility equipment such as conveyors, forklifts, industrial batteries, carton sealers, dock levelers and dock doors, shrink wrap machines, printers, HVAC equipment, building plumbing and electrical, etc, in an efficient and proper manner. Handles daily routine of changing, watering, and charging of facility forklift batteries and daily cardboard baler maintenance, i.e., take out and clean up. Performs daily, weekly, monthly and yearly routine inspection on all facility safety and fire suppression system such as fire pump, fire sprinkler system, alarm monitoring system, fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, racking, fall protection equipment, equipment checklist, etc, in an efficient and proper manner. Maintains a safe work environment, perform job functions safely and reports any potential job hazards to management. Maintains good housekeeping practices in assigned areas. Works on projects as required such as new equipment installations and improves warehouse safety and work area improvements. This includes, not limited to, duties that include trash clean-up, working on the trash compactor, etc. Performs all other duties as requested by management. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Indicate the minimum qualifications required to perform the job: work experience (including type of work and number of years required); education (including desired degree and field of study); specify certificate or license requirements. High school diploma or equivalent plus technical trade school preferred Minimum 3 year maintenance mechanic experiences required Mechanically inclined skills with basic electronic/electrical knowledge of hand and power tools, and general building maintenance in the areas of plumbing, painting, and carpentry Computer knowledge and warehouse management systems knowledge preferred Competencies/Attributes: Indicate relative "qualitative" or other important aspects that would enhance the ability to perform the job. i.e. detail oriented, customer focused, team player, etc. Detail Oriented Good troubleshooting skills Team Player Must be flexible Nature and Extent of Direct or Indirect Controls Exercised by the Supervisor: Task Level High Departmental/Division Level High Project Level High Consultative Level High The amount of discretion or freedom this position has: Strict Adherence to GuidelinesInterprets and Adapts GuidelinesDevelops and Implements Guidelines Working Conditions /Physical Requirements: Indicate the normal working environment i.e. office, store, warehouse, etc. as well as any physical requirements required to perform the job duties (lifting requirement, dexterity, etc). The work environment involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress, which require a range of safety and other precautions. The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion such as frequent climbing of tall ladders; lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling or strenuous physical exertion.
