Date Posted: 08/25/2023 Req ID: 33657 Faculty/Division: Faculty of Arts & Science Department: Dept of Political Science Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto) Description: Course description: This course examines the role of a variety of religious forms and spiritual practices in the politics of postcolonial societies, tracing their genealogies from the colonial period to the present. Cases taken principally from Africa and Asia. ( Given by the Departments of Political Science and Religion ) Estimated TA support: 50 hours Estimated course enrollment: 70 students Class schedule: Tuesday 5:00 – 7:00 pm This course is scheduled to be delivered in-person. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, this course may be delivered in-person, remotely/online, or by a combination of delivery methods as determined by the Faculty or Department at a later date. Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023 Salary: Sessional Lecturers I - $9,457.90 Sessional Lecturers I (Long Term) - $9,930.79 Sessional Lecturers II - $10,121.77 Sessional Lecturers II (Long Term) - $10,326.62 Sessional Lecturers III - $10,362.76 Sessional Lecturers III (Long Term) - $10,570.02 Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Minimum Qualifications: Ph D is required. Teaching experience at the university level is required. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching and mastery of the subject area is preferred. Previous experience in teaching a similar course is preferred. Description of duties: • Preparation of course syllabus and course marking scheme • Planning and teaching weekly lectures • Setting and marking assignments/tests/exams and course administration in accordance with the University regulations as described in the Faculty of Arts & Science Academic Handbook for Instructors • Submission.
