Utah Community Action in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking to hire a Cafe Worker. This position is approximately 32 hours per week. We have various locations. Our Cafe Worker earns a competitive wage of $16.89/hour. We also offer generous benefits , including health, dental, vision, a flexible spending account (FSA), a healthcare spending account (HSA) with up to a $2,500 match, a 401k plan with 5% match, short and long-term disability, accident insurance, life insurance, 11 paid holidays, paid time off between Christmas and New Year's, accrue PTO up to 192 hours a year, and an hour of paid time on Fridays for self-care. We are committed to ending poverty and improving the lives of those living in our community. Position Summary The Cafe Worker supports the operations of the Senior Center Cafe. Including, but not limited to, daily meal preparation, production of meal specials, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. Direct and indirect supervision of Saute students working at the cafe , food service staff, support staff, and central kitchen volunteers, including but not limited to culinary interns. Professional Experience & Qualifications High school diploma/GED. Current food handler's permit. 2-3 years of culinary experience preferred. Responsibilities Solid understanding of food safety, regulations, sanitation, and food preparation techniques. Comfortable working with members of the public, able to initiate conversations, and provide a sincere welcome and enjoy providing excellent service. Knowledge of health department standards. Ability to manage and rotate stock. Ability to handle cash register and payments. Ability to learn, take instruction, and work under own initiative, supporting other team members, and able to multitask. Strong interpersonal skills. Robust conflict management and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of health and nutrition services in the community.
