GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: This position of West Crane Operator is responsible for all operating functions as listed below. Running the crane must be understood in total with the focus of utilizing the equipment to meet all the quality and productivity goals as outlined in our quality system. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Listed below are the primary responsibilities which must be learned, understood and followed according to work instructions. The normal time frane for completion of training is approximately three months. The Process Engineer / Supervisor will monitor each person's progression and provide any necessary instruction or direction as deemed necessary during the training period.All Slab Yard Employees must be able to perform the duties of the next level job in their area. This is because we have built in coverage on the shifts. All employees must be ready to step up and cover.1. Unload slabs from trucks2. Unload and load grinders in bay3. Unload slabs from Melt Shop Caster table4. Pile scheduled campaigns for the Hot Rolling Mill5. Prepare slab for grinding including weights and work codes6. Visual check for defects on slabs7. Help inspection with temperature on ferritic and hot charging8. Stack slab bell covers and use as needed9. Load/unload weight scale for grinders10. Operator flip table11. Check scales at grinder with test weight12. Maintain 6S in the work area13. Miscellaneous: Performed as necessarya. Follow all prescribed safety rules and JSA'sb. Housekeeping / Maintenance work assigned MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of High School Diploma or GED, basic computer skills, strong communication skills
