Description:

D’Youville University Physician Assistant program is seeking a 12 -month clinical or tenure track faculty, at the rank of clinical assistant or assistant professor, respectively. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching 24 credit hours across the PA curriculum, advising students, serving the program, university and community, and engaging in professional development and scholarship. Top candidates will be sensitive to academic, economic, and cultural needs of students historically underrepresented in health professions. Candidates of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Distinguishing Features of the Class: The candidate must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program, be NCCPA certified and licensed to practice in New York State. Three years of clinical experience is required; teaching experience strongly preferred. A master’s degree is required, a doctoral degree is preferred. Qualified candidates must show evidence of good moral character, strong work ethic, flexibility, ability to collaborate with inter-professional team members and an interest in working with high-achieving ethnically diverse students. As a principal faculty member performance will be evaluated in these domains: teaching, service, and scholarship and professional development. Examples of Duties: Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Teaching Responsible to teach didactic, clinical, and/or graduate level courses Foster an inclusive and collaborative course environment Develop and implement course assignments and deliver learning activities that permit measurement of course student learning outcomes Assist with remediation of didactic and clinical year students Assist with proficiency testing of clinical year students Conduct board review sessions for clinical year students Offer office hours Work synergistically with student support programs at the university Scholarship and Professional Activity Participate in continuing education, presentations, contributions to publications and leadership in professional organizations or other demonstration of scholarly work Engage in diversity, equity, and inclusion training. Service Participate on program committees (accreditation, curriculum development, student progress, admissions, advisement, etc.) Serve on Faculty Senate or other university level committees (i.e. curriculum, policies), school-wide task forces, standing committees, and/or work-groups Participate in department and university service-learning initiatives and professional development in both the discipline and as an educator Participate in professional organizations, community outreach efforts and civic service groups Participate in recruitment events and other events of the department Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing academic counseling of students as needed; designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating curriculum as needed; evaluating the program; selecting applicants for admission to the PA program; developing, reviewing and revising, program goals and outcomes; identifying new clinical placement sites and conducting clinical site visits.
